We’re so pleased to have you here. From your doorstep, you can wander the Timboon Rail Trail, explore the stunning Great Ocean Road, and enjoy one of Victoria’s most special and most delightful hidden gourmet regions - the 12 Apostles Food Artisans Trail.
We hope these itineraries can help you slow down, soak it all in, and make the most of your stay—whether that’s chasing coastal views, discovering local flavours, or simply relaxing in your own private retreat.

Suggested Guest Itineraries
For a tiny town we’re BIG on taste and adventure. From volcanic lakes through forest to sea. Discover quiet trails with big moments and a network of road and gravel loops to explore. This is a place for walkers, riders and lovers of nature. An escape pod to accessible adventure and simple pleasures in spectacular settings. A place where stories unfold beneath tyre and feet and artisan flavours fuel journeys of discovery. Most of our guests stay three nights and still don’t get to everything on this magnificent stretch of coastline.
Start your planning with the 12 Apostles Artisans Food Artisan’s Trail. Set along the Great Ocean Road, the Timboon region and 12 Apostles Coast, this trail offer a unique gourmet adventure. Staying at the Toybox means you’re literally in the center of it all, by either a walk or a short drive to all offerings. Tour the region and visit our amazing Artisans & Producers and discover the local abundance of gourmet goods & attractions.Both seasonal and everyday artisans are open to warmly welcome you - check opening hours and days to ensure your travel times align.
Day 1 – Arrive + Wander + Wonder
Self Check In from 3pm and settle into The Toybox.
Walk the Timboon Rail Trail (entrance is 2mins walk from our doorstep). Or walk to the Trestle Bridge (approx. 5km)
Walk down to the IGA supermarket (2mins) to grab fresh supplies or pop into local producers like Bouchier’s Timboon Butchers. Treat yourself to Timboon’s famous homemade icecream at Timboon Fine Ice Cream (walk, 2 mins)
Evening/Dinner:Relax in your private courtyard or pop over the road to the Timboon Railway View Hotel for a classic Aussie pub meal. A local secret is our Berry Good Thai Restaurant (drive 2 mins) located in the middle of Berry Good Strawberry Farm where you can pick your own strawberries (seasonal from October–March)
Day 2 – Great Ocean Road local highlights
Breakfast at Timboon Provedore Cafe or the Fat Cow Café (Walk, 2 mins) And YES there is a Fat Cow there!
Drive to the Great Ocean Road and visit the iconic 12 Apostles (approx. 20 mins) Optional helicopter flight experience. Continue on the Great Ocean Road to Loch Ard Gorge then - The Blowhole • The Grotto, • London Bridge • Lunch in Port Campbell at Grassroots Cafe, or 12 Rocks Beach Bar or Barrels Beach Bar & Cafe. Or grab some Fish & Chips from the Port Campbell Takeaway and eat right there on the beach (they also offer kangaroo burger! ).
OTHER SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES: Sunset on the beach? Museum at Port? Great Ocean Road Wildlife Park? Drive to Peterborough and explore the Bay of Islands Coastal Park • Coffee at Teds, or Margarita at Peterborough House.
Dinner options in Port Campbell include Waves Restaurant or Real Pizza and Pasta, and the Port Campbell Hotel Or come back to the apartment for a home cooked meal
Day 3 – Walk or Cycle the new Poorpa Yanyeen Meerreeng Rail Trail (+ taste Australia’s Best Scones).
Discover a 2.5m wide, 19.3km, multi-purpose trail that meanders through tall forest, rolling farmland, coast gully thicket and wetland connecting the food artisan hub of Timboon to the charming coastal village of Port Campbell. Elevated bridges over cattle underpasses and a cantilevered boardwalk overlooking the Southern Ocean are key trail features. Walk or cycle the Rail Trail. Bike hire is here in Timboon, and you can ride the Rail Trail to Schulz Café (approx. 5km) for Hila Perry’s legendary patisseries, amazing scones and Schulz family gold medal milk….Follow it all the way to Port Campbell or simply meander. Day 4 – Whale of a time in Warrnambool
Drive along the Great Ocean Road, past Peterborough’s Bay of Islands Coastal Park to Logan’s Beach for whale watching, where southern white whales calve. Then on to Warrnambool, crowned the 2025 Victorian Top Tourism Town (Gold Medal) by the Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) And home to the beloved movie OddBall about the true story of maremma dogs and fairy penguins. Visit Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve (kangaroos, emus, koalas). Home to Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and Museum, Tales of the Shipwreck Coast Sound and Light Show at Flagstaff Hill. Continue to Koroit and Port Fairy, a charming seaside town now world famous Folk Festival. Lunch at Pippies by the Bay for exquisite seafood • Return via Koroit – a historic Irish village. • Relax back at The Toybox with local cheese and wine
Day 5 – Adventure Seekers in the Otways
• Otway Fly followed by lunch at The Perch • Scenic flight over the Southwest coastline
• Deep Blue Hot Springs – geothermal bathing experience • Revisit your favourite spots
Day 6 – Departure
